ive heard if you want good handloaded shells never to use remington brass because the shells are diffrent legnths and stuff like that....is this true at all? i was just wondering if my friend knows what hes talking about or if he makes stuff up lol

Never heard of such a thing. Even if they were, after fire forming them and trimming them to length, they would fit your chamber as well or better than any other new brass. I pretty much only use Remington brass for rifle calibers in part because its so easy to get.

There is some truth in dimensions being incorrect on Remington brass for foreign cartridges in particular 6.5x55, but all American cartridge companies are guilty of this since they don't want to spend the money on tooling to make the rims a few thousanths of an inch wider. In such circumstances, more expensive foreign made brass like Lupua make the cases to the correct dimensions, though the difference is pretty much academic.

I use Remington brass all the time it has always worked very well for me. Good luck.

I've used Remington, PMC and Winchester, all of which are on the cheaper end of the scale as far as quaality goes and I have'nt had any problems yet. The brass will need to be trimmed at least once every three reloads anyway and if your really into it you'll trim every time. I usually get between 10 to 15 reloads before I start seeing split cases, etc. I full length size every third reload.

mauser06-I only use remington brass and have no complaints.I have used winchester and federal in the past and did not notice any difference between them.I know you are a young shooter but just how old is your friend and what experience does he have?

Thats all I use is Remington brass,I've been reloading over 20 years and I never had a problem...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I much prefer remington brass over winchester but either one will work fine . I Know some makes of brass are manufacured more precise but if everyone did this half the people wouldn't be able to afford the ammo . Check the prices for ammo with better bullets and then imagine if you required precision cases too .

my friend is 17 and his dad owns a gunshop and he reloads and so does the kid...and they are pretty knowledgeable people....i am posative thats what i heard them talking about...my friend was talkign to his uncle about how remington brass is all diffrent dimensions...but i guess it makes sense all you gota do is trim them up and they will be fine... thanx guys.....

Remington brass will make as good ammo as any. Like ALL, you must trim to uniform lengths anyway, and it will give good groups in any hunting rifle. I don't know which brand real benchresters are using these days!

ok maybe i dreamed that up all his brass was remington i looked at today lol...maybe i heard wrong...maybe he was new into reloading and was messing with the caliper and noiced they vary in legnth(probally from being fired...and they needed trimmed....o well lol

Gosh guys, I have always heard this also. Also just for snickers and grins, just measured 100 peices of Remington 300RUM brass I just got in. I had a delta of wieght of 12 wopping grains. Measure a batch of Lupua 308 brass. Had 2.5 grains difference between 100 peices. I realize that the 300RUM wieghs almost 30% more than the 308's, but still 2.5grains is pretty uniform lot, wouldn't you say.

The absoluite WORST new brass I have personally seen as far as uniformity was concerend was the .300 Dakota stuff an aquaintance bought from Dakota Arms, and it was pretty expensive, too! Don't know who made this junk!!
