Barnes XLC

Are you folks reaching higher velocities with Barnes XLC bullets VS Barnes X bullets? How much velocity are you obtaining? Thanks in advance.

RE: Barnes XLC

I experimented with Barnes X 150 gr. in my 7mm Rem. Mag. I found little difference in velocity, but accuracy suffered with this bullet. I tried 5 powders from 3 manufacturers, three different brass and Federal 250 and GM 210 primers with unacceptable accuracy results. I returned to the old standbys.

RE: Barnes XLC

I used the XLC bullets in a couple calibers but have since switched to Barnes triple shock bullets and have much better accuracy than I was getting with the XLC bullets . I haven't had a chance to run the chrono on them yet .If we ever get a good day that will be my next step with them . I'm using the X bullet table to load by since Barnes is to slow getting anything out on it .

RE: Barnes XLC

I'm going to start after the 8-9 rifle season, I only strive for 3200fps in 168 grain 300 Win Mag.

What load data should I use for the Triple-Shock X-Bullet?
Loading data is being created for the Triple-Shock X-Bullet. Until this data is made available, we suggest you use standard X-Bullet data. In some cases, pressure will be reduced, allowing you to add a couple of grains (in 1/2 grain increments) of powder to the maximum loads listed, while watching carefully for signs of pressure.
