H 870
Does anyone use H870 in the 25-06? It shows low pressures in the manuals. I used to use it in the 7 Mag. I am shooting 100 grain bullets in it right now. I may go to the 115 grain Ballistic tip later. Thanks

RE: H 870
You know I don't know if I got a bad batch or what. But it looked to be the most ideal powder for a 300RUM. I got a lb, and it was the worst shooting stuff out there. I know it was surplus as it all is from way back. Maybe got a bad batch. Looking at the data, it had the highest densitys, lowest pressures, and good velocity.

RE: H 870
I have found it to leave a great deal of fouling, more than any other powder that I have used.

RE: H 870
I like it, but ONLY in big cases, with heavy bullets, and mag primers!!!
Wouldn't be my choise for any load in a 25-06.. Drilling Man |
RE: H 870
Thanks. I used a lot of it in the 7mm Rem Mag but nothing else. My Hodgdon manual show RE 22 as a good powder too. I picked up a can of that a Scheels today along with a box of 115 ballistic tips I have been pretty happy with H4831 so far but it never hurts to try a few more. H870 is a pretty dirty burning powder.

RE: H 870
As far as I know, H-870 is no longer manufactured. Good luck.
