Starline Brass Rocks!

Just loaded up some 45-70's for whitetails in Wisconsin this weekend.
Using my standard 405 grain hard cast over 46 grains of Rx7.

But this particular brass is on it's 11th loading most of which were high pressure loads pushing 420grainers at over 2100 fps in my 26 inch barrel Marlin CB.

I also FULL LENGTH size and this brass is still stiffer then brand new winchester 45-70 brass!!!

Ya can't ask for any better!

their 38 spcl brass is ok, good enough for practice ammo but wouldnt use it for loading match ammo. Ive run into issues with the wall thickness not being very uniform in the overall thickness after about 3 or 4 loadings the cases split in the thin spots.

RE: Starline Brass Rocks!

I've got a batch of Starline .454 Casull brass that has worked great. These have been loaded 6 times with near max loads (300gr. XTP-Mags @ 1750fps and 240gr XTP-Mags @ 1900fps, pressures around 55,000-60,000PSI), and they show NO indications of wearing out. I've seen no thin spots in the cases, the case walls are uniform, primer pockets are tight, and after 6 reloads the brass has shown less than .001" of stretch in case length. I've been told that other brands of brass don't hold up well to reloading .454 Casull at full power, giving 2 or 3 reloads before the brass has to be thrown away. The Starline is good as new after 6 reloads.

Wolf,

How much Starline brass have you used in .38Spl? Maybe you got a bad lot.

I bought 500 pc. of 357 brass back in 1996 and I couldn't even begin to tell you how many times it has been loaded but, I can say I haven't had a pc fail yet.
Pretty good stuff.

I bought a bag of 500 new star line cases awhile back with my experience i havent bought them again. Ive been having really good case life with some pmc once fired brass, I can load them 5 to 6 times before they need trimmed so far I have trimmed them twice and from the looks of them I think ill beable to get atleast another 6 loadings out of them.
