Ballistics Gel

Does anyone know where I can find some ballistics gellatin? I would like to try to perform some test on my own. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used to have a link to buy a few kilos, but misplaced it. The Knox factory will sell you a 25 lb tub, minumim order. See link for instructions.

I'm assuming this is the stuff you can use to see how much your bullet mushrooms. Am I correct? Is there a poor man's method that I can use? I'm sure it won't be as accurate but I'm a poor hunter and just want to get an idea what a certain bullet will do. Will a block of ice work?

Thanks in advance.

I WOULDN'T use ice! I have in the past, stacked newspaper in a cardboard box, about 2 feet thick. Then wet it down good with water just before shooting. Should stop most everything shy of the magnums. Shoot with a good backstop to be safe.

I used to melt down ivory soap bars and mold it in a box with dimensions of 1'x1'x1' in the end i have a 1 foot cube, id use this for handgun calibers. i would shoot the cube then with a band saw cut the cube along the bullet channel giving me a cut out view of the terminal performance, then when i was done id remelt the soap and start over again.

I once read an article in a gun magazine where they built a wooden box to hold gallon size zip-lock bags filled with water. Never tried it myself, but seems like it would work.
