W760: Nosler book vrs Speer book
Manual references: Nosler 5th edition vrs Speer 11th edition.
Barrel length in Manuals: Nosler uses 24". Speer uses 22". Bullet: 130 gr spitz shape. Powder: W760 ball. Both manuals start low at 50 gr and go to 54 gr MAX. Velocities differ AS EXPECTED, longer bbl faster than shorter bbl. My rifles: Savage 110L, and Remington 700 BDL. Both 22" barrels. Caliber: .270 Win. Primer: Nosler sez Fed 210. Speer sez CCI 250 mag. The Speer manual is ONLY one (Lyman, Sierra, Hornady, Nosler, Speer) that specifies the mag primer. Question: If I load the Nosler partition (#16322), w/ W760, and use the "mag" primer (CCI 250), am I OK? Thanks for ALL opinions. From the Big Sky Country |

You CAN switch the primers "if" you start with the "starting load", and work your way up.
I "wouldn't" use any near the MAX load and switch primers though. Drilling Man |

I agree with DM on that but it should be ok.

If you use mag primers go back to starting loads and work up from there. My dad used 51 gr. of 760 for years as his accuracy load out of a Win. Mod. 70 Featherweight 270 & a Rem. Pump 270. His bullet was a 130 gr Sierra gameking. Both of these rifles were 1/2" guns with this load. His primer was the WLR. He never owned a chrony so I don't know the velocity but the load sure was accurate.
