Hi all New to the forum, hope to learn a few things....to start out.....
I wanted to bring out the 45/70 for Elk this year....but my son decided he
wanted to use it, So I'm back with the 30-30. I have taken 3 Elk with the
little 94 in the past. but since I startd reloading, I'm curious as to how much better
are the Nosler partitions, compared to what I have been loading Hornady 170 FP.
Any imput would be greatly appreciated.....Thanks

the nosler partition will give you better penetration

Barnes X makes a 150 gr. bullet for the .30-30 Win. that will give you great results if your rifle can group them. Good luck.

Both of the premium bullets mentioned above will make the old 30-30 shine. Penetration would be best with the Barnes bullet, Expansion should be a little better with the partition. The Hornady 170 has also performed well for me over the years. The 30-30 will take Elk and moose well with the right loads. My Grandpa shot elk with the 44-40.
