Barnes X Triple Shock - your opinions
 

I think this topic was covered last year but I was still using XLCs back then. How are people liking the Triple Shocks? There is no reloading data and I was advised by the tech. at Barnes bullets to use the data from the original X bullet manual and increase by 1 to 2 grains. For the two rifles I'll be loading for (7mm Rem Mag and 300Wby), he told me that the Weatherby easily handles the 2 extra grains and gets about 100fps extra and the 7mm Mag gets 100-150fps extra. Has anyone else loaded the extra 1-2 grains and chronied their loads. Thanks.

I used 'em in .308 for hog hunting and they performed very well; accurate and deadly on Porky. I loaded them up about .5gr higher than my stardard 168gr bthp load and the accuracy was right there in my semi-auto M1A & Win Model 100. Definitely a good choice for hunting. For extremely heavy game, I might still prefer a Partition or bonded-core bullet, otherwise the TSX are my hunting round.

I love em, but if you are getting good results from the XLC bullets, I see no reason to bother with em. Only reason I use em was bad velocity with X, and bad results with XLC. Some guns love the X and XLC, and other hate em. The TSX seem to help the problem.

I've used the 168 gr. TSX in my .300 Weatherby Sako and I'm sold on them. They're accurate and they work like a charm on deer. Here's my load.

168gr. Barnes TSX
84 grs. RL22
Norma Brass
Fed 215 primer
OAL 3.64"

If you try this load, work up to it cautiously from below and if you use a different brand of brass, be especially careful. I haven't run this over my Chrony yet, but I am very curious as to what kind of velocity I'm getting.

I'll be working up some loads in my 7mm Rem Mag soon using the 140 gr. TSX. I think I'll be using either H4350, H4831, RL22, and\or IMR4831.

I just started using them in one rifle and the accuracy was better than I was doing with the X bullets . Guess I'm going to try a couple other calibers just to see if I do get tighter groups. Anyone need some 115gr X bullet in .257 caliber LOL

I tried the Barnes TSX in two different rifles. The accuracy was okay, but I was able to get better, using Nosler Accubond bullets.

I loaded some 115 Gr in my 257 ACK. Improved . Groups were good - great . Can't wait till Bammbe slaming season to try them on more than paper and chucks.
