RE: some questions....

keep in mind im buying cheap equiptment to get started(other post) and am just starting

i plan to buy a cheap tumbler and do it that way to start
I can only see one problem here. You want to buy everything CHEAP. I think this is a bad way to go. If it means putting off reloading for another year or two, do it and buy GOOD QUALITY equipment when you have enough money. I did this and eventually bought an RCBS Rockchucker Master reloading kit to start reloading with. I won't ever have to worry about buying another reloading press as long as I plan to reload for. The RCBS was more expensive than the Lee Aniversary kit, but I feel was well worth it. Not saying anything bad about Lee, but I am not sure how big of rounds can be loaded with the Lee press.

As for brass. I have heard that Winchester is about the most consistent that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Hornady and Federal are also good. Remington, I am not too sure of. I bought a box of Factory Remington 8mm Mauser rounds, and one case was actually too short by about .020". I could not see this with the naked eye, but after firing, I noticed the primer sticking out of the pocket like a headspace problem. Last time I will buy Remington brass or ammo.

RE: some questions....

Totally agreed on everyones input except the powder choices, I would use Hodgdon Varget powder. Because it is some of the most consistent and clean burning powder ever made not to mention most consistent velocity with a chronograph wether its 30 degrees out or 100 degrees out. Weather plays a major role in powder detonation. for example i started out using reloader 15 and would zero the gun on a warm fall day just prior to deer season and then just before deer season i would hit the range and the gun would be so far off after thinking it was just me a friend recommended shooting through a cronograph at different times of the year. which i did and found that on a 75 degree day I was getting proper velocity of around 2820 fps give or take 1 or 2 fps with the next rounds fired. Then I went shooting again through the chrono on a 100 degree day and the very same loads were shooting at 2870 fps give or take 1 or 2 fps. 50 fps increase in the velocity which was causing me to hit about an inch high from where it was zeroed the last time. Then later in the year I went an shot the same exact loads on a 30 degree day and my loads velocity had fallen to 2750 give or take 1 or 2 fps. An 80 fps velocity decrease was causing me to shoot about an 1 and half inches low to the right. Back to hodgdon Varget I did the same test with the Varget and no matter the time of the year or tempature this powder stayed cosistent and my velocity never increased more then 7 fps nor did it decrease more then 8 fps. with that consistency it will not hurt your accuracy. As a reloader I recommend varget to any reloader
