RE: LEAD PRICES ????
It costs a heck of a lot more now than it did a year ago to fuel the trucks that drive it around the country. When their operating costs go up your retail prices you pay will go up too.[:@]

RE: LEAD PRICES ????
I'm quessing that bigbulls hit the nail right on the head.
Lead, as we all know, is a very dense and heavy metal. It therefore doesn't take a great deal of lead to fully load a flatbed trailer, and with diesel being $1.50-$2.00 a gallon, the cost of shipping the lead from the mines, to the foundrys, to the shot plant, to your gun shop is probably pretty high. RE: LEAD PRICES ????
think about it gas prices go up so does the price of everything else because of the rise in cost to transport goods do to higher fuel prices.

RE: LEAD PRICES ????
Well I work in one of the largest lead producing plants in the US. It is a recycling plant that recycles any lead product and our lead is what most bullet companies use for their bullets and shot. Yes lead prices are higher than they have been in years, possibly due to the war, and also fuel prices are higher than ever and like it has been said it is very heavy and a truck can only haul so much. I guess the good for everyone is that we dont expect lead prices to go up much more if at all, but I cant speak for fuel prices. The company I work at also has several mines and with the high lead prices the mines arereally raking it in, the recycling industry isnt affected as much by the high prices, except that we have to pay more for the feed and waste lead to melt down to refine into good product again.
