Hornady Dies..how good are they?

Anyone care to comment on their overall quality along with the quality of reloaded ammo.

I have a set in .223.I'd say they are as good as any and better than most. I believe they are the Pacific brand renamed.

I like the Hornday dies ,the 22 cal. neck sizing die lets me just size .24 of the neck and leave the rest of the case alone . this gives me the best accury and low case length growth .

I own over thirty sets of dies.....only one of them a hornady. As long as I have to use two wrenches to tighten the spindle to keep it from pulling thru I'll use dies from a company that knows how to put threads on a spindle.

Vapdog the reason hornday dose that IMO is so if you get bredan primed case or a rock in a case you don't brake the expander rod

I happen to know exactly why they use it.....and that's not the reason.

I don't know why they do it but I'm with Vapodog. I've had one set of Hornady dies and had more problems than they were worth.
Like thier bullets tho.

They sure treat you right when something goes wrong. I buggered something up twice, and both times they fixed it free even though I said I was willing to pay because it was my fault.

Yes they do.....I know they've removed stuck cases from sizing dies free.....and even when they was not their dies. But that don't excuse poor die design in the first place. RCBS also provides superior customer service.

BTW their lock and load AP is a very fine reloader and especially for handgun and smaller rifle cases. It will handle the larger cases but clearance gets finicky.

Hornady's entire lock and load feature is a great innovation once you get it figured out how to use them.

I load .454 Casull and .45 Colt with a set of Hornady New Dimension dies and have found that they make quality ammo. I also don't care for the decapper rod design, but I just decap the brass with my RCBS universal decapper die. Can't speak for the rifle dies as I wouldn't buy a rifle die set from anybody but Redding. Redding makes the best rifle dies that I can afford.
