.338 RUM
Does anyone have any load information for the .338 RUM? I am looking at using either the 225 gr. Barnes TSX or 225 gr. Nosler Accubond or 225 gr. Hornady. any help would be great!

I would look at Hodgdon powders website they should have some load data for you if not. try looking in a more extensive reloading book like speers or hornadys.

RE: .338 RUM
I use Rel. 22 with the Nosler 200 gr BT for deer and 225 gr Nosler Part. for elk. I killed an Elk last year at about 100 yd. with the 225 Part. never moved out of its tracks. I killed a whitetail buck at 419 yd on the laser range finder with 200 BT never even finched just dropped and slid down the hill without even a kick. The loads were right out of the Nosler Manual. I can remember the exact load would have to look them up in my load book. Just remember to use Mag Primer in the 338 UM. I use nothing but Fed 215 in my mag rifles.

RE: .338 RUM
Thanks for the replys and info guys. I did get a hold of the Hornady loading data. I have been using that for now and loaded all the suggested weights with H-1000 and 225 gr interlock SP bullets and Remington 9 1/2M primmers. I got best results with 89.5 grains where at 100 yards I had 3 holes touching. The published velocity for this was 2800 and I shot one through a chronograph a guy at the range had and got 2760. I was amazed at what this gun can do and what little recoil it has compared to what I though it would be. I am going to try to get some accubonds this week and load them up as I leave for an elk trip in a month. I have heard that RL-19 would be better than RL-22. What do you guys think?

Buck Knife:
If you invest in a chrony, you will find it is an invaluable tool for the handloader. Good luck. |
