slugs
 
has anyone tried to reload there own 12 or 20 guage slugs? what were the results and what did you use to load them?i.e. press? powder? slug?

I looked into it, and decided against. They still get ya when trying to buy the slugs themselves, and nobody really supported saboted rounds. Let us know how you make out.

.69&.58 round balls,"end packers," are great . the .69 wieghts 475gr. load 28.5 gr 800x ,1oz win wad, AA hull, standard 8 point crimp. it will out preform any foster slug on the market for around 2$ per 25

I have loaded 20 ga. slugs cast with the Lyman Foster-type 20 ga. slug mould. I loaded them with a Lee Loader, one at a time, and applied a roll crimp using a Lyman roll crimping head in a drill press. I used was Unigue powder, and the charge weight was based on a shotgun reloading data table for a shot charge of the same weight as the slug. A regular felt/card wad column was used, no plastic wads, etc. The load shot about as well as a U.S. standard factory Foster slug load in my gun, but not nearly as well as my gun shoots Brennekes!
