45 Colt Hunting loads
 

Hey y'all,
Anyone got a favorite hunting load for 45 colt using either W296 or H110?

For Rugers and T/C's Speer lists 2 loads:

260JHP with 19.0 start and 20.5grns max of 296 over a magnum large pistol primer

300SP with 20.7 start and 23.0grns max of 296 and magnum primer

Both of these are way over max for colt SSA and similar pistols.


The 300grn load lists at the same velocity of a .44mag with 300grn bullets. I use the 300grn load in my Ruger, and I haven't had any problems other than sore hands, and it shoots well in the gun. I just got it last year, and didn't get a chance to try it out on any deer yet, but hopefully this year.
