577 Tyrannosaur
I don't know about anyone else but I had never heard about this until today. I was watching the host of "Under Wild Skies" take a Cape Buff with a 577 and thought what are the spec's for that? For those that are interested here is what I found:
It is really a 585 It maxed out at 11300 POUNDS OF ENERGY with 198 grains of VVN 560 velocity of only 2608 Bullet length is 3.710 Fed 215 primers 750 navel ordinance (don't know if this is monolithic) You think it has some recoil ?[:-] |
RE: 577 Tyrannosaur
The .577 has been around for several years.....I'mn not sure what it's practical use is but if there truly was a good supply of T-Rex to hunt it might be just the ticket.
IMO it's designed to feed serious egos more than to be a practical hunting tool. I doubt there's many folks that can shoot it well..... |

Plenty of video links for you if you want to see this baby in action. I would never crawl behind this thing!! Talk about punishment. |

RE: 577 Tyrannosaur
Won't be too long and there'll be people wanting to shoot 20mm anti-tank rounds. But on the other hand if I was facing dagerous game I'd want all the stank I could handle. Just don't think it would be that much...

RE: 577 Tyrannosaur
A-Square started developing this cartridge around 1993. Its more powerful than a 600 Nitro Express. Do a search on A-Square maybe to find out more.

RE: 577 Tyrannosaur
Finally an adequate deer rifle. lol Maybe with that much lead you can make a bad shot and still recover bits and pieces of your deer. haha
|
RE: 577 Tyrannosaur
cherokee, I would be more worried about recovering bits and pieces of myself! :D
