Bullet Runout
 

I'm new to the forum and I'm impressed with the amount of information that people share here. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with correcting bullet runout after the load is already assembled and if so how would you do it safely? Also, do you feel that it is really that important?
In my short experience reloading for my 30-06, i've encountered runouts ranging from .001" to as much as .007". Taking these rounds to the range (100 yds.) They all seem to group about the same which is less than 1-1/2".
However, I would ideally like to be able to cover the pattern with a quarter EVERY time so I am looking into some other options such as runout.
Any advice would be appreciated!!!!!

I was looking into this a few months ago. I found a guy in houstin that modified the NECO system to try to correct runout. He said had has sold a few to military to try out, but I kinda find that hard to beleive. Basically it does what you expect, which is put proper pressure on one side of the neck/bullet to make the runout 0. But after thinking about it, Ididn't like the idea. Sounds like you would affect neck tension while correcting, and end up with more troubles. I just decided to load the best I can, and use the bullets with runout less than 1.5mil for really shooting for accuracy and using the others to foul the bore or get my zero.
