Dented Cases safe to use ??????

I just started reloading my first batch of 300 WIN ammo last night. After doing 50 rounds of brand new Remington brass, I noticed that there were tiny, small dents in the case near the shoulder on about half of the shells. I have reloaded before and I know that over lubing can cause this. I am pretty sure that over lube is not the problem. I am using RCBS dies. I noticed on the die that the decapping pin was slightly bent but still was operable. Can I use these slightly dented rounds in my gun or am I going to have to junk them ? I am waiting for a call back from RCBS and thought I would get yopur opinions in the mean time. Thanks.

you said the dents were tiny, I'm assuming that they wouldn't interfere with achieving correct headspace...if not, then blaze away. Firing them should get rid of the dents. It sounds like overlubing to me, too. It doesn't take much to be TOO much....I manage it fairly regularly, and don't worry about it at all.

You might have some lube trapped in the die, and check that the vent holes are clean too.

Got back with RCBS and all your answers were right on the money. They suspected a glob of lube got caught in the upper end of the die. Which is what happened. They said as long as the dents were tiny that it was safe to shoot and that firing will reform the brass. Thanks for the help !!!!

I have seen dents in new remington brass as well as their factory loads, the dents were never a problem for me.
