RE: Newbie ..... be gentle..... a few questions

The 4895 makes a little more sense for the .308. There are quite a few powders that will work in your .25-06. I've used imr-4350,h1000,and ramshot magnum. They all worked well but the 4350 did give up a little velocity with 120gr bullets. If I didn't have such a big stash of .257 bullets I think I would start with the barnes triple shock 100gr bt. It seems like it might be the perfect bullet for the .25-06.

I like the Hornady 117 gr interloks in my 257 Rob., I load I4350 with WLR primers and H380 with FED LRM primers. For the 25-06 I would load the 115-120 gr bullets for deer and the 75 gr for varmint. The Hornady 75gr HP with H380 puts five shots into a dime at 100 yds. I don't really think there are any bad hunting bullets anymore. Nosler's are very consistant but so are Hornady and Sierra at half the price and double the product.

RE: Newbie ..... be gentle..... a few questions

How long are primers good for? I have some primers that were purchased new about 20 years ago. They have been stored in a dry shop. I hope I can still use them as I have quite alot of them.
If kept dry, they should be quite OK. I have some I bought in the mid-80's, kept in ziplock freezer bags, and they still work as planned. I have fired G.I. .45 ACP Ball ammo headstamped " '17" (1917), and it worked O.K.!!

Bullets that have tarnished.... and the pointed soft point.... kinda crappy looking..... can I put them through a tumbler or something? Would it be better to do that after they are loaded?
I would not tumble bullets. I'd shoot them tarnished! handsome is as handsome does!!

What are some good online sites to get supplies that are reputable and don't charge an arm and a leg for shipping?
Graf's. They ship a lot of stuff prepaid!
