Stuck brass in rifle
Hi guys I have a question, after reloading some ammo for my 303 parker-hale bolt action some of the cases seem to go in too deep for the extractor to remove them.Even if there not fired.I resize and everthing any thoughts on what could be happening. This is quite a pain because I have had a few unfired rounds get stuck.

RE: Stuck brass in rifle
from what you say, there' s something seriously wrong with the gun and it would be my advice to take it to a competent gunsmith for remedy.

RE: Stuck brass in rifle
It doesn' t do that with factory ammo so why would something be seriously wrong with the gun.I' m just just wondering why some of my reloaded cases get stuck.

RE: Stuck brass in rifle
If it' s only doing that with reloads, I' d say there was a problem with your resizing die and it' s allowing the case to go up into the throat of the chamber too far.

RE: Stuck brass in rifle
That could be thanks I' ' ll get a new die.

RE: Stuck brass in rifle
Before you buy another die . Why not measure the reformed brass with a micrometer to see if its up to spec and measure again after it is loaded to see if there is any change. It might be a good idea to mike the bullets also.

RE: Stuck brass in rifle
Thanks I' ll try that

RE: Stuck brass in rifle
There is either something wrong with your rifle, OR the ammo! IF new factory ammo works OK, then you are doing something to the cases when reloading them!! Set your sizing die so it DOES NOT TOUCH THE SHOULDERS OF THE FIRED CASES, then see how these work. You may have to resize the shoulders somewhat, but are now sizing them TOO MUCH!!
