Hodgdon Retumbo is non-existent however all other Hodgdon powders can be found in abundance, have checked midway, mid south, 3rd generation, Grafs all out of stock, some say no backorders.

The last I looked Scheels had some Retumbo. I am starting to see a few empty spots on shelves now for other reloading items. It makes me wonder if guys are starting early on the almost certain panic that is caused by election years. It really is not a bad idea to start stocking up on the critical supplies that disappeared during the last election.

ELR competition (Extreme Long Range) took a MAJOR upturn this year. Guys bought more big case powders than they had in the past; in large quantities.

Then mid to late summer, some of the casual magnum cartridge reloaders noticed they weren’t able to find powder as they usually could. So they bought up what they could when they could - buying out a shelf instead of the 1-3lbs they might have usually bought - so shelves stayed empty. If you call Hodgdon directly, they’ll confirm, they’re receiving, repacking, and shipping Retumbo at the same pace they always have. A very select few guys are buying more than they used to, which made the casual guys panic that they couldn’t find what they needed - and the panic continues.

You just summed up the 2013-2016 reloading/ammo shortages.

Hodgdon replied to my email, they got behind producing it in 2019 and have planned to correct it in 2020.
