a 358 win cast bullet load that works well
 

I , do a good deal of reloading for the guys I hunt with, and at times I gain some insight and get useful info,
well Jack purchased a new bullet mold , awhile back from NEI,
we tried, the new NEI bullet mold projectiles out recently.
I found a decently accurate cast bullet for the 358 win, he uses.
45 grains of VARGET powder with a win mag rifle primer
in my friends bolt action 358 win hes getting 1.5" 100 yard 3 shot groups very often off the bench rest
this is about a 35 rem velocity and power load but for deer & hogs here in FLA ,
where ranges seldom exceed 120 yards its proven to provide dirt cheap yet very effective ammo.

bullets have not been recovered from game as they all exit so far,
but theres evidence the bullets expand before exiting,

this NEI mold was one of several tried and its the most accurate, found for his rifle so far,
bullets cast from 95% WW alloy,5% pure tin, and sized .359
cast hot so they look frosted and dropped into a 5 gallon bucket of water.

its not as accurate as it produces about 2.5" groups with the same load in his rifle under identical conditions,
and while thats still certainly more than adequate to hunt hogs and deer with either bullet, the more accurate NEI design has given him increased confidence,
using cast bullets and its certainly far less expensive than using jacketed bullets

ive yet to try or powder coat bullets,
I've found the conventional lube and gas check functions fine
powder coating looks rather interesting, I may try that in the near future.
