Anyone using Imr 7977.

I am wondering if any here have tried this powder. Also wondering what you loaded it in and how it performed.

Good powder. I believe it is a little slower than IMR 7828 which would make it great for the big magnums

My hope is it will give similar velocity of mag pro in my 270wsm. As both powders have a close burn rate.

Any updates?

ive noticed that IMR has come out with new powders that are not affected by temperature changes. have any of you reloaders used any of these powders and how they compare to the standard IMR powders. i noticed when looking them up on their website the new powders numbers arent referenced as to what the standard IMR powders can be used for. i use IMR 4350 and 3031 to reload some of my rifles and would like to know which of the new powders compare to these.

If you are looking for something in the 4350 and 4831 burn rate try 4455 I believe it is. I tried it in my 6.5x55 but could not tell you if it does what they claim. Never used it enough just testing loads for accuracy.

Well I got some shells loaded and shot them in my 270 WSM.. There was good news and bad news the good news is it will likely shoot fair groups. The bad news is it will be at lower velocities then I was hoping to achieve. It also liked the the closest to the starting load. I never had pressure signs I was using the Barnes 129 LRX bullet. I have a feeling this powder will like cartridges that are more over bore then my short mag. It turned out in the end I will likely be using RL22 at a max load as it shot under a three quarter inch group.

I have been experimenting with 7977. So far I've tried 190 grain ABLR in 30-06, 168 ABLR in 7WSM and will be testing it in a 6.5-300 soon. Accuracy hasn't been great with any of them yet (need to fine tune seating depth) but the ES and SD have been impressive. I think there is potential here and like the fact it's an "extreme" powder. At or near max published load levels I will say the velocities have been great and pressure signs are lower than other comparable powders.
