Loaded '06 since the days of having to full length size in a VISE an old old Lyman Die.
I found a load that fit me perfectly for the use and time; a 150 Speer Hot Cor loaded to abut 2750-2800. It was an Eastern Whitetail MACHINE! Granted we never shot far, 15-170 yards. I have recently taken the same rifle; stocked it with a thumbhole, 1.5-6X Burris Sig Series, Warne QD Rings and Mounts, Timney Trigger kit, and soon to come a Marble front sight (ivory)white and a replacement rear sight. It's going to be my East to West gun. My next endeavor is loading up some East to West loads... Considering the ~ 200 Nosler Accubond ~ 180 Hornady InterLock ~ 180 Hornady Interbond ~ 180 Barnes TTSX My Dad's killed more moose than I with Standard 180 PSP Green and Yellow Core-Lokt's... I want something that has a little higher BC to be used from 500 ft sea level to 5000-7000 ft or better. I believe in every bullet from above with the cheapest being the Interlock but I think it's plenty competent up to large bear (not of the black variety), but I have bigger calibers for that and really don't plan on doing it anyway. Anybody wanna comment on the above bullet selection out of an 8 1/2lb '06? REM7600 |
