Default RCBS Hand Priming Tool question

I think it's called the primer rod . . . But why is it flat on one end and rounded on the other. I've only used the flat because it looks like using the rounded end would actually put a concave dent in the primer itself.

Which RCBS hand priming tool are you using? I am using the RCBS Universal Hand Priming Tool and can see no part that matches your description. There is a "primer plug" that screws into the end of the primer rod on mine. I do not see a rounded end on the standard hand priming model's rod either.

"Hand Priming Tool ". It has the round pan. I'm referring to the rod that pushes the primer into the pocket.

The flat end is for to push the primer into place; the round end fits into a socket much the same way your leg bone fits into your hip socket.

Exactly what Ron said. Be sure to read the instructions that came with your hand primer.

Yep, Ron got it. If you take it apart, you'll see how it fits together... And it should make sense.
