Help

I was going to reload these 25/06 bullets. These are Remington factory psp I fired a few weeks. I was looking then over prior to resizing and noticed several that didn't seem to fit in. The look like a total different caliber but they're all the same. Any ideas

if they were all fired in your rifle, I would suggest taking this rifle to a gun smith and having the chamber checked, its NOT un common for a 25/06 to have a worn chamber/throat, which if left go too far can be dangerous to the shooter or anyone standing by if it lets loose!

your getting some WAY out of spec looking expansion on your cases IMO!

Are you sure those are your brass? What's the inside dia of those larger neck cases? Since the headstamps match, my first guess is that someone pulled out 25-06 to make 30-06 cases. By my eye, it looks like your smaller mouth case neck would slip right into the mouth of those larger necked cases, and since .25-06 is something on the order of 0.290" OD on the case neck, that'd make them a .30-06. They look to have too much shoulder to be a 338 A square, and too big in the neck to be a 280 or 270.

So that's my vote - someone necked up some 25-06 brass to make 30-06, and somehow they ended up mixed into your batch.

I'd like to think they were mine. I wonder if the guy shooting with me shot these in his 30/06. I've gone through all my brass no other 25/06 or even my 280 is expanded like this.

My guess is that is exactly what happened, but how would he have been able to get at your loads unless you alternated on the same bench and that allowed him to grab a couple of your 25-06s and shoot them in his 30-06. I can't believe those expanded that big in your chamber. How many rounds have been put through that 25-06?

I don't think Nomercy448 meant that his buddy shot his rounds from a .30-06 Topgun 3006. I think he meant someone necked up some .25-06 stamped cases to .30-06 and those got mixed into Bruse's lot of cases when he picked them up. If he was getting blowout that much in the necks, all of his cases would be blown out. Not just a few.

I know we shared a shooting bench. I'd shot mine a few times then let him shot. I keep playing it in my mind as how that could have happened? I went back through all the brass I have fired in this rifle and can't find anymore blown out like this. Next time I share a bench I'll take my ammo away each time I take the rifle off the bench.

I know what NM448 stated, but neither of you read the BRUSE #1 post closely enough saying those were two factory rounds, not reloads. He stated he got them out to prepare to reload them and exactly what I stated is what happened. The guy grabbed those two 25-06 rounds and shot them in his 30-06 after BRUSE left those unfired factory 25-06s on the same bench they were both shooting from! It would have been interesting to know where those two rounds hit on the target he was shooting at IF they even hit paper!

That's for sure and those two blown out cases WILL NOT fit in his or any other 25-06, no way no how! You can even look at the primers on them in that one picture and see the difference in how they started to blow out compared to the normal looking flat one in the middle that was shot out of his 25-06.
