Default Norma Brass Found - Question..

Finally found an awesome supply of Norma brass with a few calibers available-- http://www.extremestore.us/brass/

I usually can get about 4-6 uses out of them..anyone else seeing the same results? Definitely my go to brass.

I get more loads from my brass than that. I anneal my brass, and my loads are warm. IMO Norma brass does not take a back seat to anyone.

Not only does the load play a part but the size of your chamber is critical and the size of your dies. FL dies don't necessarily all resize a case to the same dimensions.

CIP I have 30.06 dies that are marked FL and one resizes the base dimension to .466", the next one sizes to .468, another to .469 and finally I have one that is polished out that sizes to .471" for the big SAMMI size cases. A 30.06 chamber can be .471 to .473 range and I have miced fired cases from SAAMI chambers that gave birth to .475 base dimensions.

Only problem I ever had with Norma was forming 7.62X54 cases down to 6.5 Daudeteau.

On the first firing cases broke in half about half way up the body.

I stress relieved the cases a little over half way down and never had it happen again.

If you care for your brass, don't over load it and don't over work it, its like can be increased.

I fire-form and neck size all of my rifle brass. If I only got 4-6 loads out of them I'd throw them away. FL sizing puts absolutely too much stress on cases. Especially from rifles with a bit on the "big" side chambers. I don't do a whole heck of a lot of wildcatting anymore so re-purposing cases isn't an issue for me.

Not the fault of the brass, study up you'll find out what you did wrong to cause a case separation.

In caps no signs of increased pressure.
Brass on the second reload.
1. Brass Norma, full size
2. Bullet Norma Oryx 168 gr.
3. Gunpowder Vixta N540 - 44,5 gr.
4. Caps CCI BR 2
5. C.O.A.L - 71,6 mm.
And here`s another brass Norma.
This time cleft mild cervical brass.

didn't say you were over pressure did I? I had my first casehead separation in 1977, with research the answer will come, I could tell you but you wouldn't learn anything, probably just brush it off, but I've loaded more than a few rounds.

if you are only getting 4-6 loading on your norma brass it is not your brass it is you and only you .
what is your chamber ? stock ? custom ?
i have norma brass i still use from day 1 when i had a custom chamber in 6.5-284 done like 12 yrs ago. i do NOT full length size at all. i only size my neck and after only sizing the neck i get 3-5 loadings on that case before i need to give the shoulder a very light pump back .
after you get your loading skills down a bit more you should see your brass start to last a lot more then 4-6 loading .
the only thing i find on my brass after so many yrs of loading is i will start to see a donut at the bottom of the neck on the inside
