New England trigger

I have a great little rifle. A New England Firearms .223 bull barrel. This rifle shoots half inch groups off of sand bags. I really like it for crow, and predators.
Only problem. The trigger pulls like a wisdom tooth! [:' (]
Has anyone out there ever tried to give one a better trigger feel?

NEF will fix the trigger. Politely return it to them and ask for a trigger job...they include that as a standard with a second barrel.

I have an NEF 280. The trigger is right at 9 lbs. It takes a hell of a finger tip to pull a 9 lb trigger. She is going back for the free trigger job and maybe a 32 inch 45-70 barrel. My NEF 223 have a great trigger and shoots 1/2 inch at 100 yds. I bought it used so it may have already had a trigger job. Its a synthetic stocked one. LOVE IT BIG TIME. My wife loves to shoot this one as well. She loves to shoot but hates recoil. She shoots a 700 Remington in 250-3000 for deer. A fine deer stopper with nearly no recoil. I used to do a lot of gun trading but she told me in no uncertain terms that if she ever went to the gun safe for her 250, IT better be there.:D

WOW, they actually fix the trigger for free? DO I return the whole rifle, or just the action?

KENTUCKY BOY
Sounds like you' ve seen this. Did you try it? I' m just wondering what they do at the factory. Do you think they just replace the whole assembly?

RE: New England trigger

I DONT THINK THERE IS ANY THING YOU CAN DO BUT OIL THE HELL OUT OF IT

RE: New England trigger

The factory is doing something besides oiling it. I have had several people tell me that they sent their rifle' s action to NEF, and it is returned with a much better trigger. Like from, 9 pounds to 3 1/2 pounds. No charge except shipping.

I sent mine back to H&R and let them handle it but if you feel like tackling the job yourself and feel confident and safe doing it then try this link. Scroll down until you see handi-rifle trigger work part 1 & 2. Hope this helps.

The factory can take them down to 3 1/2 lbs. You cand bend the hammer spring a little to releave the tension and they either cut the trigger return spring or replace it with a weaker one. I have seen some that they did. Nice Man Nice.
