a longer barrel always gets more velocity, I run 30" tubes on my long range stuff. I shoot a 6.5 gibbs, a 270 case necked down and shoulder changed, with a 30" barrel it will outrun the 264 win mag by 200 fps using 9 grains less powder.

Wow. I forgot about this thread. 25-06 has been back in the safe. It's a beautiful rifle and I love to show people when I have company. Not the best one the range......still
