Default 270/300 win mag

Anyone have links to load data on a 270-300 wm? Matrix makes some 165gr and 175gr VLD bullets that look like the 270 could get a new look in the long range game possibly. I'm looking into building one.

Question if you can neck down a 300 WM why not a 7STW necked down to a .277?

You can do a 270 STW, it's been done. As well as a 270 Dakota and RUM. Then there's the 270 Allen Mag which I believe is based on the 338 Lapua...

I'm getting a regular 270 WSM built right now and that cartridge is turning into a good one for LR too...

Why not just go to a 270 Weatherby magnum. It will do all you ask and more.

According to Allen's webpage the 300 rum is the parent case to the 270 Allen magnum.

the 7 and 300rum share the same case, the RUM cases are the same except the 338, which is .100 shorter

You are correct!

To the OP, my buddy has a 270 RUM reamer if you wanna go that route.

when Kirby started designing cartridges, his Allen magnum line was the maximum case capacity the bullet diameter could utilize, at that time the rum case was what he felt was as big as he could go, experimentation with slower burning powders proved he could go a bit bigger with the 270 so he dubbed the 270/338 lapua the 277 AM, since he already named the 270/7mm RUM the270AM
