Loads for my .260 remington
#1

I posted this in the gun section earlier today...I realized that is probably should have gone here.
Anyhow, I just got one of the guns I've been wanting a long time. Rem 700 Mtn Rifle in .260
So I'm gonna get with my dad this spring (he has the reloading stuff) and work up some loads for it. Looking at all the bullets available in 6.5 - I'm probably leaning towards one of these. Nosler 125gr partition, or the 130gr Accubond, and Hornady 129gr SP Interlock, or the 129gr SST.
I've used the 139gr BTSP Interlocks in my .280 for 25yrs, and they are awesome...both in accuracy, and on game.
Suggestions on a good load for my .260 would be appreciated. Thanks

I shoot the same rifle in .260. Mine shoots very well using H414 and either a 125 gr Partition or 140 gr. Sst.

Not only .260 but in the same gun as well.
Most of the people I hunt with use more traditional chamberings. But I found that when they had gun issues they had no problem using the .260. I use the 140 gr sst for plains deer and antelope. Haven't hunted with the partitions but I did work up a good load. My next plan is Barnes tsx and elk.

I agree they handle so well. Mine is blued/walnut, and really nice. Previous owner said he bought it new in 2004. I don't know for sure what twist it is, I thought it was a 1:9 from what I've read. I guess I need to call Remington to find out for sure.
I almost bought a LSS .260 back when they were still available, and kinda been kicking myself ever since - which led me to getting the one I have now. I don't have a clue why Remington doesn't offer the .260 in the mountain rifle every year. Its about as perfect as you can get. Heck, its THEIR cartrigde and you can hardly find any guns they offer it in. Savage offers it in more models than Remington, go figure.
