Primer choices.
If you had the choice of buying CCI, Remington, Federal or Winchester primers, which would you buy and why. I will be using them on 7mm Rem mag, 270 Winchester and 45 auto. Thank for any input.

Federal 215 GMM in my magnums, Federal 210GMM, CCI LR and BR 4 s in standard chamberings. But I have a stock of many kinds for everything.

I use more CCI primers than any other, but I do like the 215 in heavy magnum rifle loads.

I use GM210M in my 270 and FED 215's in my 7mm Mag...I don't currently reload for my .45 so no help...
As SKB noted, I was in a Bass Pro Shop today and a Cabelas Saturday...I bought the last 2 bags of 308 brass and the last 2 bags of 270 WSM...there was probably a dozen other bags of rifle brass at either store and they were 222 Rem...204 Rugar...45-70...and a bag of 338 WBY...there was no primers at either store and maybe 30 pounds total of powder...not a single .22LR or .223 round in Bass Pro...not 1! |
i use cci primers for my reloading

I use cci the most. I tried winchester and noticed they were a bit smaller as they would expand after being fired and raise up a little out of the primer pocket.

Thanks for the responses. Guess I better pick up what I can. Out here in Montana I have not seen the run on anything except AR supplies.

I use WLRM primers in everything. They are hot, consistant and IMO better ignition in sub zero temperatures.

I as well load GMM primers in most of my picky rifles and what ever the recipe calls for in the rest, pistol and rifle. I as well, as many others, stocked WAY up when that BS came out earlier and have more than enough to last me for quite some time. I Pick up 5-10K when I get a deal though and share with my brother. |
