Pressure queestion
Here is my situation. I got a Remington (Baikal) side by side rifle in .45-70. The barrel has a warning on it not to exceed 2200 BAR or 31900 HST.
My problem is that most of my reloading manual list the pressures as CUP. I've been trying to figure out what is safe in the gun other than the puny loads for trapdoor type (1873 Springfield) rilfes. From what I found out on the net is that HST is the same as PSI. And although there is no correlation between PSI and CUP there is a relative formula that is listed which is (psi + 17902)/1.516 So plugging these numbers in: (31900 + 17902)/ 1.516 = 32850 cup. Does anyone know if anything below 32000 CUP would be safe in this rifle? |
Thanks RR. But the point is moot anyway. I returned the rifle today and got my money back. Regardless of how I played with the jacking screw for the right barrel I could not get it to come close to the left barrel. At 50 yds, and the left barrel sighted in, the closest I could get the right barrel to hit was about 15"
