need reload help

HI guys I' m new to reloading and I have a question for ya,I just bought some reloading equipment and started reloading. After I was done doing about 40 123 gr 303 cal rifle bullets I realized that the powder they gave me was dupont 800x.when I looked up the brand on the web it says it is suited for heavy shotshell loads and heavy pistol bullets. Is this going to be a problem in a rifle.Any help would be great.

this is absolutely serious....now listen to me......Is 800-X listed in any book for the (was it .303) ???...if not pull the bullets and don' t ever shoot them.

It' s possible but I' d be very suprised that 800-X is a powder for the .303

Only load charges listed in a reloading book printed by a recognised company such as Hodgdon, Hornady, Nosler, Lyman, etc.....

I looked through all my data, and I cannot see any loads for the 303 British using that powder. I would take them appart, and use the right powder. You may be headed for a rude awakening. Good luck.

Trac, If you loaded a rifle cartridge with a shotgun/pistol powder, you obviously were not following a loading manual. You may like to assemble your kid' s bike without reading the instructions, but you absolutely cannot do that with any type of reloading. That sort of foolishness will get you killed or maimed in short order. Spend the money to get Lyman Reloading manual as well as a bullet or powder manufacturer' s reloading manual such as Hornady or Hodgdon. Do start using your head while you still have one.
