Reloading 7mmRM & 7mm-08 Rem

After this year of shooting and reloading i have come to a conclusion.
i have been a firm believer in Berger 168g HPBT hunting VLD's for my 7mm Rem Mag, and Berger 140g HPBT VLD's for 7mm-08. Have tried nosler and remington, sierra and barnes, but ths year i tried a new one. Hornady. My round with Hornady bullets for 7mm-08 is not much differant than the Berger round. IMR4350 @ 47.5gr, federal 210M prime, this time a Hornady SST 139gr BT. Coming out the barrel @ 2987fps. My 3 shot groups @ 200 went from 1.75" (berger 140 same charge), to 1" with Hornady. did this three times. Also shot a buck this season with one and let me tell you that it put a ridiculous hole in him. Dropped in his tracks @ 145 yds. Not a huge differance from berger but substantial. Im now loading all my 7-08 with Hornady Interlock SST BT 139gr. Now to the 7mm Rem Mag. switched to Hornady A-Max 162gr BT. Because @ 400yds groups went from 3.5" to 2.5" WOW!!! IMR4831 @ 62.5gr, CCI LR Mag prime. W/Berger 168gr out the barrel @ 3029fps, W/Hornady 3038fps. Cant wait to see what Hornady does past 400yds. I only have 400 to shoot because there s a powerline on the backside of the mountain, so when i go south again Ill be sure to let you know the 500,600,700 outcome. But as it stands
SHOOT HORNADY!

Used to shoot the 139 gr. Hornady's with a HEALTHY charge of IMR 4350 out of my 7 Mag.. blew up on contact at less than 100 yds. Shot really great, but was definitely not a short-range load.

Couldn't get the 139 Hornady's to group well at all in my 7-08. The ticket there was 48.0 gr. IMR 4350 under either 140 gr. Accubonds or Ballistic tips. 9 1/2 Rem. primer.

But hey.... each gun is an individual unto itself, and will tell you what it likes. You just gotta listen. Keep on shootin'.......

Hi, I would recommend Woodleigh thats if you can get them as they make them in Australia but 140gr through my 7mm-08 does the trick.

Just before I got into reloading I tried the Hornady light mag 7x57 load.It worked OK on deer but cant say I was that impressed with the groups or performance. All the other factory ammo I tried from 139gr-175gr was better. Now I'm loading Sierra GK's for both the 7x57 and .280.With these I get better results on game and paper.

I have always had the best luck in my 7MM RM with the Nosler 140g (both the Ballistic Tips and Accubonds)...pushed by 62g of IMR4350 and Federal 215's.
