300wsm
I traded for a 300wsm last week, its a model 70. I didnt really need it because I have a 300win mag. Got to get a set of dies for it to reload and was wondering from other 300wsm shooters what the powder of choice is. I use h4831 and RL22 out of my win mag.

Dont have any experience with the shortmags, yet here, but what trend I have seen is they like a little faster powder then what the full length versions like. Instead of RL22, you might look at RL17 and 19, and instead of H4831, look at one of the 4350s, as an example.

I load for 2 300WSM rifles and they both do very very well with 180gr bullets powered by Ramshot Hunter. With the 165gr bullets they both prefer MRP.

My 270 WSM (Tikka T-3 Stainless Lite) and my 25 WSSM (Browning A-Bolt) both really like the H4831sc...but also almost equally liked H4350. |

CCI250 shoots 3/4" groups and great for whitetails. |
I also use RL-19 in my 325 WSM with good results.

Just a note.. when reloading the short mag cases, be certain to lube the inside of the case neck well when resizing. The reason being the design of the short mag with it's sharper shoulder angles can be prone to having that angle pulled out of position from a tight expander plug in the resize die if not properly lubed, causing a chambering problem when chambering a reloaded case.
