Default 280 Remington

Anyone load for a 280? I'm looking to start and was thinking of using 150gr nosler partition bullets. Any thoughts or recommendtions to this bullet or other bullets. I will use this rifle for deer, elk, and hogs.

thanks,

...... I've been loading for the .280 for a long time. I finally settled on a load that shoots well in my old 725 Rem., and it's primary use is on whitetail and groundhogs. I load 53 gr. IMR 4350 powder, Rem. 9 1/2 Primers, and Hornady 139 gr. Sp bullets. If you should decide to try this combo, back off and start up slowly as you would when working up any new load in a different gun....

It'll do the trick. Partitions are a killing bullet. I'm still lovin the 154gr SST. They're more affordable, and will take care of anything you ask from them. Of course, there are bullets galore that will work.... I'm just partial to a few.

Never go wrong with the partition IMO. 4831 has done well for my pards 280 in 150 and 160 class bullets.

I have a 280 Ackley Imp. I have loaded the 150gr partitions and ballistic tips with good results. I used RL-22 and H4831sc powders. Both bullets did well. I also loaded the 150gr Barnes TSX and it was more accurate than the partition. I am wanting to try loading the 160gr Accubond as well as the 160gr TTSX next.

Default 280 Loads

With bullets in the 139-160 gr. range you can't go wrong with H4831 or RL22. I have sub-moa loads with bullets from 120 to 160 gr. With the 120's I used IMR4831 & with everything else it's one of the powders above.

I've had good results using IMR4350 and RL19 with bullets ranging from 120-150gr.

My favorite load todate is 57gr of H4831SC with Federal primers and either Hornady 139gr SST or Nosler 140gr Balistic Tips. Please work yourself up to that load.

My 280 A-bolt prefers the heavier bullets. Here are a couple of recipes that are sub moa out of my gun:
160 gr Accubond in front of 48.5 grs H4350 with Remy primer and brass
162 gr SST in front of 48.0 grs H4350 with Remy primer and brass
