Try 15 grains difference for 125 to 150fps.I have had no feeding problems at all with my ultramags.Since I don' t use factory loads that is not an issue for me but I can buy 300ultramag loads with 180gr partitions for $55 canadian.Weatherby brand factory loads with 180gr partitions sell for $80 canadian.As for recoil my 300ultramags with mcmillan stocks feel no worse than my 300wby with it' s factory synthetic stock.

Gee were touchy Sorry I don' t see ammo that price around here closer to 40 dollars a box and its Remington brass not Norma brass....Based on the quantities i I have seen used on the Gun Racks its a one box deal... all except for you and Stubblejumper.

You know Bigcountry after reading your last post I wish I had my 300 wsm' s back heck they were getting almost 3000 fps with a 180 partition. I don' t have a problem with recoil just a problem with useless recoil that is uneeded and unwanted in a hunting situation...

True alot of people do trade them in. They buy them for the wrong reasons. Buy them for strickly deer hunting. Yea, I wish I had a 300WSM too. Last weekend however, I did find a firecracker load. I tried 96gr-101 of Retumbo and a 180gr nosler Partition, and was getting 3300 to 3400fps. It cooked. But I was getting 2.5" groups at 200 yards consistently. I believe that might be my moose load for this year. For most people that 300WSM and 300Win mag is ideal. I just like having the option to go faster if I want too.

Tomorrow I am trying out 200gr Hornady' s and 77gr of 4350. I expect to be in the 3000 range with very light recoil. See, with this round you do have that option.

I don' t have any feeding problems either. I also don' t think the recoil is that bad. I got my Chrony working again and 101grs of Retumbo averaged at 3365fps with the 180gr Hornady SST. My OAL is 3.665. I haven' t seen very many used rifles in the Ultra mag line around here.

BigCountry, just pulling your leg a little I know you look forward to that. Actually I picked up a 338/378 a few months back(WHy I don' t know) I guess I got it dirt cheap from a guy that lost his job and didn' t need a lot of toys. I know I can resell it in a heartbeat for way more than I paid for it... Looked at the price of new ammo and my jaw dropped...Will be a handloading only proposition and a novelty item at that ... When I go hunting especially for Elk the 338 I have gathering dust in the closet will do the trick. Good luck in your shooting I know how much you want to nail a big moose.

Well, USDA has just issued a statement, that no meat can be brought back to US from Canada. I am still trying to find out if this applies from Moose from Newfoundland. That sucks.

At this point it covers meat from all game animals from all parts of canada.The outfitters are hoping this will change but it hasn' t happened yet.

Well, just got back from the range. I tried those accubonds at 3.8" COL and man did they shoot well. I made it up to 91gr of Re25 and my primers were flat as flop. My groups were around 1.2" at 200 yards. Can' t be happier. Next week,I will try them at 3.6" and see the difference.
