Thumbs up

Thanks folks for all the great input. I've got H4831SC on order and a few different bullets (90, 100, & 115 gr) coming.

I went to the range last weekend with some test loads using 75 gr. V-Max's. Great results: shot a .370" 3-shot group with 47 gr. of IMR-4064 and a .508" 3-shot group with a medium size dose of IMR-4350. Lower & higher 1 gr. doses of both powders opened up the groups progressively. I'm already loading .3 gr test loads either side of both of the small groups to see what happens. All of the loads were shot with the bullets seated .020" of the lands. Needless to say I'm having a great time!

Until next time, Thanks again for your help.

Default 25/06?

I shoot two 25/06's; a Savage 110fp and a Wby Vanguard. Both have 24" barrels. I have tried RL17,RL19, RL22, IMR4350, and IMR4831.
All shot acceptably well;however, the IMR4831 outshone all of the others. The 110 is my go-to long range PD rifle. With 53.5gr IMR4831 and Sierra 100gr HPBT Match Kings I'm getting 3291fps. I have made a shot or two out past 500yds. On the range it will ring the gong 4 out of ten shots at 660yds. The Vanguard is my whitetail rifle. With the same IMR4831 load and 100gr Partitions it shoots sub-MOA 5 shot groups at 100yds. I have not chronied this load.
I am a 25 "freak". Besides the two 25/06's I have the following:
Ruger #3 250AI ( dedicated PD rifle)
Stevens 200 250AI ( sporter weight whitetail rifle)
Stevens 200 257 Roberts ( sporter weight)
Savage 10 250/3000 ( sporter weight)
Good luck with your adventure!
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!

46.0 grains of 4064 with a 100 grain bullet of choice. Has worked in several different .25/06's. Note that this load is above book max, although older manuals show it.

I have had great luck with 4350, 4831, RL-19, and RL-22. I have shot Barnes, Sierra, and Hornady bullets ranging anywhere from 75gr to 115gr and all have shot sub moa out of my Remington Sendero. The 100gr Sierra Match King will shoot under a half inch with the 4831.

Default 25-06

Using 110-120 gr. bullets I've had the best luck with either H4831SC or RL22.
