I tried the 3-die/4-step process and this worked great. I'd like to make sure they cycle through my 1911 first before I go to the range. I just go out to the garage, point the weapon into a 5-gallon bucket full of sand, and cycle them through(obviously not trying to discharge the weapon).

You...expect that your 1911 might fire when cycling rounds through? Do you point your muzzle at the 5-gallon bucket when simply chambering a round?

When ya first get into reloading it is a good idea to take extra steps to be safe. Way back when I was younger and first started reloading I didn't have enough crimp on my case mouth, and didn't seat the primer deep enough. The combination of the round not totally seating in the chamber and the extra gap on the primer caused it to fire.

Just trying to be as safe as possible. I don't expect it to discharge, but when I am cycling rounds through her in my garage...I'm not taking any chances. BTW, I should have phrased my earlier statement differently. I point the weapon into the bucket of sand; not at it.
