Survey for the #1 Bullet
what is your #1 go to bullet for the 22-250 for shooting Prairie Dogs and Coyotes in the 55 gainers ?
|
My favorite bullet for the 22-250 for shooting prarie dogs is the 52gr. speer holow point, super accurate and totally devastating. My next favorite is the Hornady V-Max 55gr.

55 Nosler ballistic tip

I notice balistic tips stay together better for bigger animals, and XTP's are devastating and frangible on ground hogs. I use em both.

I have access to family farm land that includes thousands of prairie dogs in the surrounding pastures. That means I get tons of pd shooting opportunities. In 55 gr. 22 cal bullets for several 22-250s my preference is a Vmax. But most of my shooting is with a .20 cal and I use Sierra 32 gr. BKs and Vmaxs both with equal effectiveness.
Most any of the varmint style bullets will work well, I'd be more concerned about which is most accurate. Also some 22-250s have a 1-14 twist which will limit the use of longer bullets. |
