Well, I got to test out my .30-30 on a lion yesterday.
The load is as follows : Win Brass 170 Grain Speer FP CCI 200 Primer IMR 4895 26.5 grs 2.550" OAL This was 2nd loading for the brass, chamfered and deburred prior to loading, no other trimming The gun is a 1980 vintage Marlin 336 Texan, with the 18" barrel The shot was about 25 feet, probably 75 degree uphill angle in the tree. The bullet entered tight behind the left elbow, into the chest, and exited between the shoulder blades. He hit the ground dead to a bunch of happy dogs. Not super hard to kill a lion, but I like to keep track of what I do with my loads. Enjoy. Marcial |
Very Nice! I would love to do that one day.

Very cool. And it makes it even better when you get to dust off the ole 30-30 to get the job done.
