200gr Sieera Game King for 06'
Has any one here used this bullet on game? I like the 550+ B.C. an fairly low price combination. I'll be using them in an Ol'Remington 721 with a 1-10 twist in a 24" barrel. I'm moving from South Georgia to Sterling Alaska so my game is gonna get a lot heavier. Any real world experiance welcome. Realy interested in its use on Moose an Caribou.

I shoot that bullet in a Remington pump carbine 30-06. I have shot an elk and many many deer with the bullet. It is a devastating load for all I have used it for. I chronoed the load out of an 18-1/2" barrel. I was getting 2500 fps. I thought that was pretty good. Tom.

At 2700 fps or less it will perform fine. In fact you should have 60% plus weight retention which is comparable to many premium bullets.
I really like the 200 grain accubond (.588 BC) in my 06. I am loading 54 grains Max of RL17 and getting 2720 fps. The accubonds are more expensive however.

I have added 100 fps to my 06 with RL17 at 168, 180 and 200 grains. RL17 is good stuff.

I originally thought this bullet would be perfect for Alaska, but was never able to work a load up that my rifle liked.
I did manage to work up a load for the .30-06 using a 165-grain GameKing, as well as .243 using the 100-grain GameKing, and the .375 using a 300-grain GameKing. As it turned out, none of those bullets performed well on game (antelope, deer, elk, and caribou). Shed jackets and excessive tissue damage were the norm for the GameKings, compared to cheapo factory loads and my Hornady and Speer reloads. The GKs sure shot like the dickens, but they didn't hold up once they connected with anything besides paper.

i cannot see why the 200gr. would not work. especially in the 06' i am reloading 165gr. sierra gameking's s.p.b.t's in both my BAR and a-bolt. never had any core seperations. the 1-10" with the 24" barrel should more than what u need
