7mm load

I have a 26" barrel on my 7mm. I am in the process of trimming it to about 24.5" just to help mobility out west. I am looking to shoot 140 rounds and was wondering if the barrel reduction would keep me from getting a real 3125 - 3150 fps or so out of the 140 grain round?? THANKS:fighting0007:

Have you chronographed your current loads?.....

I'll bet you're not getting that velocity now!

Plan on losing about 30 FPS by shortening the barrel 1.5 inches

Personally, shortening a barrel 1 1/2 inches is not going to help much. I'd trim at least 4".....but then I like short barrels.

There's no point in having a mag without the barrel length to take full advantage of the case' capacity.I'd leave it as is.Besides 1 1/2" shorter wont help mobility much anyway.

One can only assume you are asking about a 7mm Remington magnum as opposed to the numerous rounds that can be called "7mm".

This was my assumption as well based on the 26" barrel and velocity numbers quoted.
