Oh and I would have it set to 3lbs for big game and 2lbs or less whatever you are comfortable with and is safe for varmints.

DG,

I brought it to a gun smith and he told me that the trigger could not be adjusted, that I would have to put in an adjustable trigger.

Is this true or do I need a new gun smith.

The gun is a Model 700 in a Scendero Remington 7mm Ultra mag.

I can' t speak to Remingtons, but My savages have different triggers. The older had a easily adjustable trigger and it is sweat. The Savage 110 that I had in .22-250 was " Lawyer-proffed" nd not adjustable. So I would guess that the newer remingtons are the same.

P.S. The guys at Savage have solved the problem with the accu-trigger, it' s a great piece of work and a fine shooter. Unfortunately, it' s not available on the after-market stuff yet.

I had a sendero in 300 ultra mag and the trigger was just like the one in the picture. That trigger adjusted down nicely. I adjusted the sear engagement until it went off when the bolt closed then backed it off a little. Then I dropped the but of the rifle on the floor several times to make sure it wouldn' t go off. Then you can adjust the other settings to your liking. Dropping the butt sounds bad but mine was a rubber recoil pad and I wanted to make sure it wouldn' t go off if it were dropped or bumped.

Canjar single-set. Use it unset for hunting, unless making a long shot with plenty of time!!

I' ve used many Timneys because they are not horrible expensive and I find they work well.....however the Remington 700 has a fully adjustable trigger and I' ve had very high regard for a properly adjusted Remington 700 trigger.....

If your smith won' t touch it, take it to a smith that will!!!
