Default Question re older 505 Scales

Looking to get my first scale and going through past threads, most say the RCBS/Ohaus 505 scale is a good basic and accurate scale. New, they are around $100, but there seems to be plenty on Ebay in apparent good condition for less than half that.

So my question is, has the 505 change much since it was introduced way back when? Most importantly, are even the older models magnetically dampened?

Thanks

I have two...they are just fine and probably date back to the early 70s. Because they are RCBS you have nothing to worry about...they would fix them or send you parts to make them right for free anyway.

Thanks, does this mean the older models had magnetic dampening?

I have a couple of them, only because I picked up extras at gun shows for a great price. I've been using mine for a looooong time, also. Mine are magnetically dampened.

I love my 505. I bought it off ebay for around $59 NIB if I remember correctly.
