7.62x39 bullet in a .303 brit?

Ive decided to keep the enfield ive been tinkering with and im gonna fit a synthetic stock for my girlfriend and teach her to shoot it. I wanna get the recoil as light as possible so how would a 123 gr 7.62 bullet work in a 303 brit? Where would I find data?

Might lose some accuracy over 311/312s. I'd use data for 125gr .311s to find a good ballpark.

Thanks big z I just saw the data for 125s online. Midway advertises them both at .310 so im gonna give it a try.

If you've a unworn barrel it might work. For those with washed throats and sloppy bores cast is the answer...............Harold

7.62x39

I have a 7.7 Arisaka(.311-.312) I converted to 7.62x39 and shoot 150 grain corelockt (.308) through it. At 100 yards it will keep up with any new .30 caliber rifle out there. I only have access to a 100 yard range, so after that I don't know. I have head shot a few deer with it out to that distance and a little more with total confidance. I did try .311 150 grain bullets and they would not group well at all. A 7.7 barrel is 91/2 twist, go figure. I also have a 7.7 that was set back and re-cut to .300 savage. I picked it up at a yard sale years back. It is not as accurate as the 7.62x39, but I only ever used factory ammo in it. You might be surprised what .308 bullets will do in a .311 barrel. I also have a Japanese rifle that was converted to 30.06 by the U.S. Army during the Korean war, that one just won't shoot well and I gave up on it. You just never know.

Have you tried reducing the powder load? The recoil pad on the replacement stocks works fairly well. For shooting at the range have her use a recoil shoulder pad for I'm sure that if she is shooting at a deer she will never feel the recoil anyways.

you need to slug the barrel and find out what size it needs.sierra and barnes both make bullets in .311.also check out www.grafs.com thats where i buy mine for the 91.if the barrel is worn much i wouldnt try a .308 as it can go all the way to .313.it is actually a 7.65 caliber and not 7.62
