Best Reloading Guides
I've ordered a new .300 RUM and need to get a new reloading manual which has those specs. My old 3rd and 4th edition Horanady guides don't have the RUM in it. Since I've only used the Hornady, I'd really appreciate thoughts from folks that have used Hornady and others. Which is the current "best" option on reloading handbooks???
Thanks in advance! |
I use mostly Nosler bullets, I prefer Nosler's reloading manuals. I think the newest Nosler manual is Nosler#5. They have information for your 300-RUM in there newest manual.

There is a web site called loaddata.com that has every single published manual available on line that you can print or save to a file for $30 a year. A single book will cost that.
Here is what they offer for the 300RUM. Of course, you can't see the recipe until you sign up. http://loaddata.com/members/listing.cfm?type=1 BTW, I have absolutely no affiliation with loaddata.com. |
You can also contact the manufacturer of the bullet you want to shoot and they will email you the load data they have for 300 RUM.

Either the Lyman or Lee would be your best bet. They cover a lot of different style/weight bullets.

IMHO
the best would be the newest Hornady or Sierra. Far and away the worst are Barnes or Lee. But for the sake of arguement, any published loading manual from the big guys is far and away better than solicited loading data received on line from unknown sources. |
Personally, I perfer the Lyman manual. They don't sell powder or bullets, and give you far more load data for various suppliers than a "specialty" manual listing only their products. Their explaination of the reloading process is one of the best also.... but just to set the record straight, I DO keep updated manuals from different bullet suppliers on hand also. Always good for cross-reference......

The Lyman 48th edition is my favorite. I like Noslers and Hornady's but the Lyman's is my go to manual. My Hornady 7th addition does have the 300RUM in it.

I do love my "Pet Loads" complete volume by Ken Waters. Very good and informative reading.

I own several and have used online ones as well but Lyman is in my opinion the best hands down.
