5-0-5 Scale

Has any one had any trouble with their 5-0-5 sticking to the bottom? I was reloading the other day and got through several loads, after removing a load from the scale it would not come back up again. It was not mechanically stucks, meaning there was nothing in the way of the beam it still moved smoothly but would stay down!!! I removed and replaced the beam then it worked fine any thoughts??

You have to be careful if thier is metal around. They have magnets to lower the oscillations when you put a load one.

True about the magnets. Also, if it is new, there may be some grease or other preservative on the pivot points. I suggest you wipe them down with a Q-tip and apply a thin coat of gun oil to them.
And be careful putting it away and storing it. The 5-0-5 is a good balance scale. I've used mine for years. I don't know how many thousands of loads it weighed.

I spoke with a RCBS CS rep. and she indicated that you should clean the pivot points with alcohol and do not oil. I believe that she said the two areas that the beam pivots rest on are granite although I may be incorrect.

I've been using the same on for 35 years and have never had a single problem with it, couldn't even guess how many 10'000 of charges that have been weighed on that ole' gal.. I even load my benchrest 6PPC loads on it and have never seen a single change in velocity, so it must be doing it's job or it will show up in velocity...

Thanks for the input I have not had an issue with it since the first, it was just odd that it happened.
