220swift/VARGET

Does anyone have load data for Varget powder in the 220swift using 55gr and 50gr bullets?

According to the " HODGDON Basic Reloaders Manual 2003" 220 SWIFT, BBL: 26" , Case: Win., Primer: Win. LR, COL: 2.680"

50 gr. HDY SP, VARGET MAX: 36.0 grs., Vel.: 3770 f/s, 50.200 CUP

55 gr. HDY SP, VARGET MAX: 36.0 grs., Vel.: 3645 f/s, 51,900 CUP

I personally consider Varget to be too fast a burn rate for the .220 Swift.....Hodgdon has published data for it (see previous posts) but I' d recommend a slower powder.....H414 for example.

RE: 220swift/VARGET

Vapodog I am trying H-380 in my swift now, I have used IMR4350 in it for a long time with great results. I just recently bought a 6mm REM and this is mainly what I am trying the VARGET in. I am trying to get high velocity with 55gr bullets because I will be using it for varmints only. Thanks for your input.
