I just started reloading for my brothers 270 wsm Accuracy is ok. I am getting 2 to 2 1/2" goups at 100 yards. The problem is 2 shots will be very close together then one flyer about 1 to 1 1/2 inches left or right. I have tried a couple of different powders, sp and btsp bullets, seating depth and powder charges. The rifle is a weatherby vanguard.
Is this the best I can expect or is there something else i can try?

My initial guess is that your barrel is getting hot. Try letting the barrel cool between shots.

Is the barrel floated?

Pretty much what statjunk said. Another question though is how sturdy is your rest? Is your barrel floated or the stock glassed? But yeah, for me with my beat up body if I can get 2-2 1/2 groups at 100 yards I know that is about as well as I can shoot. I used to be able to hold a rifle much more steady before the shoulder surgeries and back problems.

I am letting the barrel cool between shot. as far as my rest goes, I can shoot sub 5/8" groups out of all my own rifles.
The synthetic stock is out of the box from weatherby, I don't know if it is glass bedded. My guess is no.

I would load 20 rounds with slightly varying COL depths. Fliers can be a mistimed shot. After that I would rebed the gun.

weatherby says they put a pressure point on the stock against the barrell. I would slide a dollar bill between the stock and barrell and see where that pressure point is, and remove it.
weatherby has a 1 1/2" guarantee.

If it's a standard vanguard, it's not glass bedded. It just has palstic sandwiched between the reciever and floorplate. And the barrel does put pressure on the forend. I want to say that I read 17 lbs of pressure somewhere, although that sounds high. I have a Vanguard in 300 WSM, and had similar problems. It seemed like 2 out of 3 were always tight, and one had a mind of it's own. I don't think a cheap plastic stock puts consistent pressure on a barrel as it gets hot. Plus, it's affected by pressure on the rest, sling, and side loads. I switched to a pillar-bedded stock and free floated the barrel and it made a noticable difference. For what it's worth, my handloads consistently shoot under 1/2" at 100 yds.

How about some more details, what powder, bullet, primers, brass and seating depth are you loading to? My Ruger 270WSM with 130 gr Ballistic Tips sitting on top of 63.0 gr of I4350 chronied at 3250 is a 3/4-1" group consistantly. 140 gr SST's and Accubonds is a 1/2-3/4" shooter with 58.5 gr of H4831SC or I4350, same point of impact for each. I've also had pretty good accuracy with RE19 and RE22. All WW brass, my preference is WLRM primers.

Well it ended up being the barrel/stock contact. I put a shim under the pillar. Now i am getting 7/8" groups from a load of 61 gr rl22, 140nosler accubond, wlrm primers and w-w brass.
Now I just need to glass bed the thing and I'll be set.

Good to see you found the problem. Another thing to keep in mind is that even with a correctly bedded rifle, sometimes what you experienced can occur, and it often can be solved by changing the distance of the bullet to the lands. Some guns like a fairly long jump, say 0.020" or so, and some may want to shoot best just "kissing" the lands or on them. I have also had "two-grouping" correct itself with either an increase or decrease in the powder charge. In any instance, watch closely for pressure signs and adjust accordingly..
